A near-black charcoal for low-key work. Up close the surface is mottled, with faint warm brown flecks broken across the dark, so it never reads as a flat black sheet. Light it a little and that texture comes up; leave it in shadow and it falls away to almost black.
Use it for moody portraits, fine art, men's headshots, dance and anything where the subject should glow out of the dark. Light skin, white shirts and bright wardrobe colours stand out hard against it. At 122x180cm it suits a small studio or a head-and-shoulders setup.
