A big, calm medium grey with a soft, even texture and a gentle falloff to darker grey at the edges. It is wide enough for full-length portraits, couples, families and small groups, and the floor sweep gives you room to pull the subject forward.
Grey this neutral is the workhorse of a studio: it takes any wardrobe, and you can push it lighter or darker just by moving the light. It also takes coloured gels well.
The canvas is reversible, and the back is a different backdrop altogether: a warm sand beige with lighter cloudy areas and darker grey shadows soaked through, deepest along the bottom. Turn it round for soft, warm portraits and maternity work. That pattern is unique to this piece.
